Volunteer Program
How the Volunteer Program Works
If you do volunteer work of any kind — whether by delivering Meals on Wheels, supporting your church’s festival or bake sale or helping out at the Salvation Army or Red Cross — your time may qualify you for a Volunteer Program grant from the Alliant Energy Foundation. Just track your hours and then submit an application (form 75-0799) by August 31.

Volunteer Program guidelines
Volunteer and keep track of your time between July 1 and June 30 each year. Then, simply complete, sign and submit the Volunteer Program Tracking Form and Grant Application [PDF] to the Alliant Energy Foundation office by Aug. 31.
Be sure that the organization you wish to receive your grant is an “eligible recipient” (as noted below), and be sure to include a copy of that organization’s Internal Revenue Service tax-exemption letter with your application.
The Alliant Energy Foundation will award grants in recognition of volunteer service by retirees of Alliant Energy or one of its predecessor companies.
Grants totaling up to $400 will be awarded in the name of an eligible participant (or anonymously, if the participant chooses) based on the total number of hours volunteered during the 12-month period between July 1 and June 30:
Eligible recipients
To receive a grant through this program, the organization must be eligible to receive a grant according to the guidelines established by the Alliant Energy Foundation Board of Directors. This includes federal tax-exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations or governmental units (e.g., school, volunteer fire department, etc.) in the United States.
The Alliant Energy Foundation will not give volunteer grants to religious institutions such as churches, synagogues, temples or other houses of worship, or to any organization whose main purpose is to promote a specific faith, creed or religion and/or direct resources to advocate for a specific ideology. However, the hours that an eligible participant volunteers for those types of organizations can be counted.
